Geo Engineering to Counteract Global Warming
The conversion away from fossil energy sources is happening only very slowly. Political inertia to agree on common global rules and regulations is enormous. Engineering of the earth’s climate has therefor been suggested as an approach to help counteract global warming. One suggested technique is sea salt seeding of marine clouds. (Latham, J. Control of global warming? Nature 347, 339–340 (1990))

Sea Salt Seeding of Clouds to Impact the Climate
Clouds, reflect solar energy and absorb terrestrial radiation, which in turn has an effect on the climate. Model simulations show that the method is promising, and where salt seeding could be applied most efficiently. (Alterskjær, K., Kristjánsson, J. E., and Seland, Ø.: Sensitivity to deliberate sea salt seeding of marine clouds – observations and model simulations, Atmos. Chem. Phys., 12, 2795–2807) https://doi.org/10.5194/acp-12-2795-2012, 2012
Ongoing Project
Most current projects of cloud seeding are not dedicated towards climate change, but have more regionally confined goals, i.e. rain enhancement, and hail suppression. Lists of projects that a ongoing globally can be found on the homepages of the Weather Modification Association (https://weathermod.org), and the North American Weather Modification Council (NAWMC) (http://www.nawmc.org/)
